Dynamics of Rural Society Journal (DRSJ) is an international open-access scientific journal that uses a double-blind peer-review system and publishes high-quality research that is both relevant and engaging for an international audience. The journal is dedicated to discussing and advancing knowledge on rural society and social transformation, particularly in the Global South. Published by the Department of Sociology at Gorontalo State University, Gorontalo, Indonesia, in collaboration with the Association of Indonesian Sociology Study Programs (APSSI), the journal is primarily aimed at researchers, academics, and social science students with a deep interest in the study of rural society dynamics and social transformation in rural areas. It publishes theoretically informed and empirically grounded scholarship on the social dynamics shaping rural communities, livelihoods, institutions, inequalities, and everyday life across diverse geographical settings.

DRSJ welcomes original research articles and review articles on rural social change, including work on inequality and welfare, livelihoods and labor, migration and demographic change, rural governance, agricultural and rural development policy, public institutions, gender and family relations, community resilience, agrarian-social transformation, and conflict, identity, and citizenship in rural contexts.

The journal particularly encourages contributions that engage with contemporary rural change in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and other developing regions, while connecting local empirical evidence to broader international debates in rural sociology, rural studies, development studies, agrarian change, and related fields.
