Journal Archiving

Journal Archiving

  • Open Journal Systems supports the implementation of the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system to ensure the secure and long-term preservation of journal content.

  • Every published article, along with its associated metadata, will be archived digitally to ensure data integrity and availability.

  • The purpose of this archiving is to ensure continued access to journal content, even in the event of technical disruptions or other operational issues.

  • The Dynamics of Rural Society Journal participates in the LOCKSS system to preserve its content.

  • LOCKSS is an international community-driven initiative that provides open-source software for libraries and publishers to create long-lasting digital archives.

  • Through the LOCKSS system, copies of content from the Dynamics of Rural Society Journal are distributed to participating libraries and archives, ensuring redundancy and protection against potential data loss.

Access and Preservation

  • Archived content is stored in a secure environment to protect it from damage or loss.

  • Access to archived content is provided in accordance with the journal’s open-access policy, ensuring continuous availability for readers and researchers worldwide.

  • PKP has developed the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) to digitally preserve OJS journals. The LOCKSS program offers decentralized preservation, enabling perpetual access and maintaining the authenticity of the original content.

  • PKP PN ensures that journals not included in other digital preservation services (such as CLOCKSS or Portico) are preserved for long-term access.
